Setup through cleanup happens inside your rental period
Daytime rentals run 9 AM – 3 PM, evenings 4 – 10 PM, and a full day 9 AM – 10 PM. Setup, decorating, vendor load-in, cleanup and teardown all need to fit inside the hours you booked unless we've agreed otherwise in writing. Need more time? Ask before your event and we'll add it if the calendar allows. Staying past your end time without arranging it is charged at $100 per hour or partial hour.
Up to 49 people — everyone counts
The room holds 49 people at any one time, or fewer if a lower limit is posted. Caterers, vendors and event staff count toward that number along with your guests.
Alcohol only through an approved, licensed provider
You and your guests can't bring, supply, or arrange delivery of your own alcohol — beer, wine, spirits or premixed drinks — and hiring a bartender doesn't change that. Any alcohol has to be supplied and served by a licensed, insured caterer or provider we've approved for your event. Before we can approve them, they'll need to send us their licenses, permits and liquor liability insurance. They check IDs, won't serve anyone under 21 or anyone visibly intoxicated, and take any leftover alcohol with them when your rental ends. Outside food and non-alcoholic drinks are welcome.
No smoking, vaping, or open flames
Smoking, vaping, and the use of any open flame (including candles not pre-approved by the venue) are prohibited inside Milton Square and on the immediate grounds.
No glitter, confetti, or fasteners
Glitter, confetti and similar hard-to-clean materials aren't allowed. Neither are nails, screws, staples, permanent adhesives, or anything else that could damage walls, ceilings, floors, furniture or fixtures.
Keep noise considerate
Milton Square is shared with neighboring tenants, businesses and residents. Keep music and noise at a level that doesn't disturb them; we may ask you to turn it down.
Park only in marked Milton Square spaces
Guests, vendors and service providers may park only in spaces marked “Milton Square Only” and the single space marked “Tamarack Room.” Every other reserved or designated space is off-limits, and no vehicle may block a driveway, entrance, exit, fire lane, or a neighbor's access. Spaces are subject to availability. Please pass this on to your guests and vendors before the day — we may ask for a car to be moved.
Leave the room the way you found it
Before your rental period ends, remove decorations, personal items and catering equipment, put garbage in the designated bins, take food and drinks with you, and wipe down surfaces. Cleaning fees start at $150 for excessive mess, spills, staining, smoke odor, confetti or glitter, or cleanup left unfinished.
No pets (service animals welcome)
Pets are not permitted in the venue. Service animals, as defined by the ADA, are always welcome.
All guests must remain in designated event areas
Access is limited to the Tamarack Room and the shared restrooms. Other tenant spaces in Milton Square are off-limits during your event.
Security cameras are present in common areas
For the safety of all tenants and guests, security cameras operate in the building's common areas. Cameras are not present inside the Tamarack Room itself.
Cancellation Policy
Refund amounts are based on how far in advance you cancel. The base rental fee is the charge for your reserved rental period. It doesn't include add-ons, the damage waiver, taxes, or the security deposit.
- More than 30 days before your event: Full refund of the base rental fee.Less payment processing fees we can't recover.
- 14–30 days before your event: 50% refund of the base rental fee.
- 7–13 days before your event: 25% refund of the base rental fee.
- Less than 7 days before your event: No refund of the base rental fee.
- Everything else on your invoice:
- Add-ons are refunded in full, unless we told you otherwise in writing before you bought them.
- The $79 damage waiver fee isn't refunded when you cancel.
- The security deposit is an authorization hold, not a charge — cancelling never triggers one.
- How to cancel:
- To cancel, email events@miltonsquare.com. The day we receive your email, counted in calendar days before your event (St. Paul time), sets which tier applies.
- What you've already paid counts toward any cancellation charge. Anything above it is refunded; anything still owed is due when you cancel.
- We start any refund within 14 calendar days of your cancellation.
- If we have to cancel: If we can't give you usable space for your event — a building closure, a utility failure, severe weather, or anything else that isn't your doing — we refund everything you paid, including add-ons, the damage waiver, taxes and processing fees, and release your card hold. If you'd rather, we'll agree on a new date instead. If only part of your rental period is affected, we refund that share of the base rental fee and any add-ons we couldn't provide.
Damage Deposit & Optional Waiver
Every booking includes a refundable authorization hold on a credit or debit card you're authorized to use and that supports holds, however you paid for the rental. The optional damage waiver lowers the hold.
Standard: $500 authorization hold placed about 24 hours before your event (or at booking, if your event is less than a day away). We inspect the space and release any unused hold within 72 hours after your rental period ends — automatically, if we haven't already; how soon it disappears from your statement is up to your card issuer.
Optional Damage Waiver — $79: A non-refundable waiver charged at booking that reduces the required authorization hold from $500 to $250. It's a waiver of charges, not an insurance policy.
If something is owed: The hold can be applied to damage, excessive cleaning, missing items or overtime. Before we charge your card, we email you an itemized explanation, with photos or invoices when we have them. Nothing the waiver covers is ever charged.
If your card declines: We'll let you know right away. A replacement card has to be authorized before your rental period starts, and we can't send your entry details until it is.
The waiver covers: Accidental damage from normal event use, up to $1,000 in total per event.
The waiver does not cover:
- Intentional damage
- Theft
- Smoking violations
- Excessive cleaning
- Damage caused by unauthorized activities
- Damage from violations of venue policies
- Damage caused by gross negligence, reckless conduct, or illegal activity
- Any amount above the $1,000 limit
Guests remain financially responsible for damages not covered by the waiver.
